Access cards and mobile credentials, without the paperwork
The four requests residents make most
| Request | Cost to the resident | What the manager checks |
|---|---|---|
| New card or mobile credential | Paid (the building sets the price; card payment or at the office) | Who it’s for; tenants’ lease shows their name where no owner lives in the unit |
| Move to a new phone | Free | Old phone details; the old credential is revoked before the new one is sent |
| Guest card | Free | Guest name and dates, up to 60 days; it ends on the last day |
| Revoke | Free | Triggered when a tenant moves out or a card is lost |
Why buildings need a workflow, not a form
In a busy apartment tower, access cards are the main way people get into the building, the car park and the lifts. When requests arrive by email, nobody can see what was approved, what was paid or which old phone still has a working credential. Watchdog keeps each request as a conversation with a status: waiting for review, question for you, removing old card, sending new card, done.
Tenancy checks built in
Before a tenant can order a card, they tell the building who manages their tenancy: a real estate agent, the main tenant they sublet from, or the owner. Where no owner lives in the unit, the tenant attaches a lease showing their name. If the details don’t match other people in the unit, the building manager gets an integrity alert.
Works with your existing access system
Watchdog manages the requests, approvals, emails and history. Issuing the credential still happens in your building’s access-control system, whichever vendor you use. The manager marks each step done in the app, and residents are notified automatically.
Questions people ask
Is moving a mobile access credential to a new phone free?
Yes. In Watchdog Strata a phone transfer is free. The old credential is revoked first, then the new one is sent.
How long can a guest card last?
Up to 60 days. For longer stays the person should be added as a tenant of the unit.
Does Watchdog Strata replace our access-control system?
No. It manages requests, approvals, payments and records. Credentials are still issued in your building’s access-control system.
